Dr. Diane J Karnavas - Practicing since 1989
Dr. Karnavas was born, raised, and educated in Pittsburgh. After attending the University of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate education in Biology and Chemistry, Dr. Karnavas furthered her education with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine followed by her Specialty in Orthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh.
In 2010, Dr. Karnavas began volunteering with FOCUS Pittsburgh, now named the Neighborhood Resilience Project, a nationwide movement to "provide action-oriented and sustainable solutions to poverty in communities across America." In October of 2015, Dr. Karnavas co-founded a dentistry clinic at their location in the Hill District where she acts as the Co-Dental Director of the program, dedicating her spare time to providing free dental care to underprivileged youth and adults.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, in June of 2020, Dr. Karnavas began working as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. At the University, she teaches clinical skills and coursework to the orthodontic residents.
